Members and Spouses:

The month of November has been declared as Veterans Remembrance Month, and has been set aside to ensure that Elks never forget our pledge to Veterans: "So long as there are Veterans in our hospitals, the Elks will never forget them." Let's make sure that statement still holds true. We are preparing for the annual visit to the T or C Veteran's Hospital, so please join in our project and let's not forget those who fought for our country.

Last month, we handed out over 1200 new dictionaries to the 3rd and 4th grade students in Carlsbad and Loving. The dictionary program is a nationwide program sponsored by the Elks. I would like to thank Tom & Kathy Huff, Peggy Beason, Jim Miller, Brad Bradford, Juan Gamma, Mike Proctor, and Kirk Nance for helping me with the dictionaries. Your help was greatly appreciated.

I would also like to thank Fred Holdgate, Larry Keith, and Sammy Burkham for their help in replacing the pipes for our flags. The pipes were ripped up during the culvert replacement at the lodge.

This month, we will have our Veterans breakfast, a special Ladies Night wine tasting, and lounge bands. Come up to the lodge and join your friends in the Fall activities. Sponsor a new member this month, and let's keep Elkdom alive and well in Carlsbad
